Meet the Artist.
Handmade for the home and workspace, durable, unique, elevated.
Creating has long been a lifestyle for me. I draw inspiration from narrative, the miracles of nature and the mundane curiosities of everyday life. Finding beauty in our surroundings should be an integral part of everyone's lives. Whether it be a work of fine art to admire in your home to using functional handmade objects in your morning ritual. It is the little things in life that can bring us small joys. Black Cat White Rabbit is a platform for me to share my little daily joys with you. Finding my work a new home is as much a treasure for me as it is for my customer.

Teaching others the process of ceramics has been a wonderful opportunity for me. I have taught people of almost any age. Both long form learning and short, casual workshops. Beginner and intermediate learners often times continue to teach me something new!
One of my other passions is gardening and floral design. Working in a design studio with natural materials has taught me countless lessons on the nuances of seasonal changes. Such as in life the seasons in nature bring about thoughts of loss, growth, beauty, and foundational necessities for life to thrive.
About the gingerbread houses:
Home is where the heart is. Sounds like a cliche, I know. The truth is that I never completely understood what was meant by that statement. That is until I met the love of my life. Suddenly I was stricken with an intense urge to make a home together. At first I thought this meant a house. We spent so long looking for our perfect home, without much luck. After a few years living in less than ideal conditions it finally occurred to me that I AM home. As long as I am with my partner I am at home. With him, my heart is HOME.
These tiny townhomes, churches and mansions are small symbols of a dream come true. They also remind me so much of playtime as a young girl with Polly Pockets and Barbie's house!

What is Black Cat White Rabbit?
I have a fascination with symbols. My background in art history allowed me to study symbols in art and how artists use them. The black cat in the United States has historically and culturally been a symbol of bad luck or an omen to misfortune. The white rabbit has been regarded as a character of good fortune and adventure in many cultures internationally. According to the Farmer's Almanac the rabbit is considered to be a symbol of cleverness, purity and fertility. The two seemingly contrasting characters share some overlapping qualities. In other cultures around the world the black cat is considered lucky. In nature the rabbit is prey, and can sometimes outwit its predator. The cat, being feline has a natural instinct to hunt. Each individually has a darkness and a lightness. Such is so in the Chinese symbol of yin and yang. Paradox is present throughout all of our lives. In the most polarizing spaces there is often a hidden bridge of connection.
